What Your Dental Posture Photos Reveal: Try a Photo Ergonomic Assessment

Have you ever seen a candid photo of yourself and thought, Yikes—I didn’t realize I looked like that!
You’re not alone. Me too! You can learn a lot from a photo (especially one when you didn't realize you were being photographed).
Surprisingly, this is exactly what I recommend for dental clinicians.
I always recommend having a coworker snap a few photos of you during the day without telling you. Why? Because posture habits show up in the moments we’re not aware of them—and those are often the ones causing us the most harm.
Photos can reveal so much: how you hold your instruments, where your stool is positioned, whether you're reaching or twisting unnecessarily, or how you're supporting (or straining) your body. These subtle movements add up, and over time, they can lead to pain, fatigue, or even injury.
That’s why I’m excited to introduce a brand-new service: Photo Ergonomic Assessments! You simply upload a few photos of yourself working on a patient—ideally from different angles—and I’ll do the rest. I’ll provide a customized report with:
A detailed breakdown of what you're doing well
Areas that could be improved
Personalized stretches or exercises
Equipment or layout suggestions to support better posture
This is a great option for those who want guidance but aren’t quite ready for a full virtual or in-person assessment. It’s less intimidating, more accessible, and still incredibly valuable.
You’ll be amazed at what your photos can reveal—and how small adjustments can make a big difference.
